Aldenham School spans across more than 110 acres of picturesque Hertfordshire countryside and with a 420 year history is a fantastic venue for weddings, corporate seminars, milestone parties, location filming, theatre productions and sporting events. Over the Easter and Summer holidays the school site is a bustle with a range of residential language courses and children’s activity camps. With a diverse range of buildings we have the capability to fulfil a wide range of requirements.

Dance, Drama & Music

Chapel

The stunning chapel can accommodate circa 600 people and has two balconies making it ideal for larger music recitals and concerts. Church of England ceremonies are available to members of the Aldenham School community and Old Aldenhamians by obtaining an Archbishops Licence. The Chapel is not licensed for marriages of other denominations.

Recital Room

The Recital Room is situated in the eves of the Old School Chapel, built in 1938 and presents a lot of character. It is licensed for 80 for Civil Ceremonies and is ideal for music recitals as it can be combined with the Apthorp Room for refreshments.

Theatre

The well-equipped purpose-built theatre will full light, sound and staging systems is ideal for a wide range of drama productions and musical events. Total seated capacity: 140.

Sports & Fitness

Aldenham School has excellent sports facilities, the majority of which are available to hire. The 50 x 26 metre Sports Hall accommodates a wide variety of indoor sports whilst we can cater for outdoor sports on the outdoor tennis and netball courts, full size artificial pitch and Eton Fives courts. *Please note that playing fields are not available for general hire.

Sports Hall

The large multi-purpose sports hall is marked out for indoor tennis, basketball, netball, volleyball, hockey, badminton and 7-aside football and is available to hire by groups and individuals during the evenings and at the weekend. Five indoor cricket nets are also available.

Dance Studio

The Dance/Martial Arts Studio is ideal for a variety of exercise, meditation and martial arts classes, and can be hired by groups and individuals for one-off or regular bookings.

Astro Turf Pitches

The full size Astro-turf has markings for hocket and football, and can be hired by groups and individuals, for one-off and regular bookings.

Tennis / Netball Courts

Three tennis courts and two netball courts are available for hire by groups and individuals, for one-off and regular bookings.

Celebrations & Events

With the rooms that are available, there is a great deal of flexibility for any event. Milestone parties, private dinners, Charity events can all be catered for with a range of capacities. Marquees can be constructed on our extensive grounds with either the school or open fields as a backdrop.

Library

The Library, built as a Memorial for pupils who lost their lives in the First World War, was completed and opened in 1924. The impressive balcony surrounding the upper level and the large wooden pillars create an impressive environment for functions. The Library is licensed for 40 (downstairs) and 20 (upstairs) for Civil Ceremonies, and for drinks receptions for 120 standing. It is an ideal venue for drinks receptions or social gatherings. The large sash windows overlook the playing fields.

Historic Hall

Built in 1887, the Dining Hall holds a huge amount of history. The wooden eaves combined with the traditional wood panelling around the room create a warm and impressive feel for your event. Capacity for the Dining Hall is 120 for a seated meal. It is licensed for 120 people for civil ceremonies and our traditional refectory tables and benches can be used, or chairs can be hired in. Ideal for Civil Ceremonies, Wedding Receptions, Charity dinners, milestone celebrations, private dinners.

Historic Dining Hall

The Masters Dining Room, built in 1826, is situated in the oldest part of the school. With recently repainted wood panelling, high ceiling and wooden floor, it creates a smaller, more intimate feel for your event. It has a capacity of 60 for a seated meal and works well used in conjunction with the Dining Hall for Wedding receptions. Ideal for Civil Ceremonies, wedding receptions, charity dinners, milestone celebrations and private dinners.

Entertaining Areas

Following the traditional lines of the adjoining buildings, yet displaying its own modern attributes, the Wells Centre was completed in 2013. Ideal for private dinners and drinks receptions it is also licensed for Civil ceremonies for 60 people. The glass frontage allows a fantastic view across the playing fields that disappear into the distance. Downstairs has its own bar serving area.

Function Room

The Apthorp Room, with its oak beams creates a wonderful atmosphere for any event. Equipped with a projector and screen, it is an ideal room for meetings/training/conferencing with its own break out/refreshments area. It is licensed for 60 people for Civil Ceremonies and is also ideal for smaller private lunches/dinners.

Courses & Corporate

Across the Foundation we have a range of facilities to hire either for small meetings or for training and conferencing. Several rooms have integral projectors and break out areas for refreshments.
