Milton Abbey offers a stunning and scenic venue for a variety of events and special occasions including weddings, conferencing and corporate hire, residential stays and private functions. We also run our own golf club and have an on-site tea rooms which are open for visitors to the Abbey to enjoy during the school holidays, as well as offering organised tours and afternoon tea packages for groups and organisations interested in learning more about our historic site. Our grounds are home to a stunning Abbey church, founded in the 10th century by King Athelstan, and an exquisite Georgian mansion house, set in one of Dorset’s most beautiful locations.

Sports & Fitness

Golf

At Milton Abbey, we run our very own well-established golf club, set in the beautiful grounds of the Milton Abbey estate. The scenic golf course which was opened in September 1972, is open to members and visiting players and is also available for hire for golf days, tournaments and corporate events.

Sports Pitches

The vast sports pitches at Milton Abbey include one senior football and rugby pitch, two grass hockey pitches and one lacrosse pitch. These are available for hire by individuals and groups for one off tournaments or regular bookings.

Swimming Pool

A prestigious and truly beautiful setting for weddings and civil marriage ceremonies in the heart of the Dorset countryside, located just outside the historic village of Milton Abbas, midway between Dorchester and Blandford.

Our unique site, nestled in a picturesque wooded valley, is home to a stunning Mansion House and magnificent Abbey church (founded by King Athelstan in 934).  Surrounded by stunning grounds landscaped by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, it offers the perfect venue for your entire day of celebrations.

At Milton Abbey we are proud to offer exclusive hire of the Mansion House and grounds for your wedding.  We can cater for ceremonies of between 80 and 120 guests. Our offering includes a comprehensive wedding package containing everything you need to create a truly special and memorable day, and also includes the services of our dedicated Wedding Co-ordinator and Events Manager, who will work with you to create your perfect day from start to finish.

Historic Entertaining Areas

The Georgian King's Room is a stately setting for civil ceremonies or evening receptions and can be transformed into a dancefloor when required.

Chapel

The Abbey or State Rooms are both available for hire for wedding ceremonies and offer an unforgettable setting for special events.

Historic Hall

The wonderful 15th century Abbot's Hall is the perfect location for wedding breakfasts and for other social events and functions.

Entertaining Areas

The Library is a beautiful and calming space which can be hired out on it's on or as part of a larger corporate booking or social event.

Function Room

The Prince's Room is available to hire for smaller social events or as part of larger booking. A bar area is also available in this room.

Milton Abbey is available as a venue for residential hire during School holiday periods, for groups of between 40 and 120 guests. We offer a fully-catered Monday to Thursday/Friday morning package which includes: accommodation (with bed linen and towels), breakfast, lunch and dinner, use of the School’s facilities at allocated times (swimming pool, golf course, sports hall) and the use of various rooms and spaces for meetings and classes. Shorter midweek stays also welcome.
