Dance, Drama & Music

Music School

The Music Centre is available to music groups for tuition, rehearsals and recording. Pianos, a keyboard and drum kit are available. *Please note, groups are required to provide their own hand held instruments. Music Centre facilities include: large rehearsal room, with piano, one large and one smaller classroom,15 individual practice rooms and 26 pianos situated around the centre.

Opened in 1934 by HRH The Duchess of York, the York Hall is a magnificent oak panelled room suitable for large events. The flexible layout allows space for a dance floor, band or DJ and is ideal for parties, dances, concerts and conferences from 100 to 500.

Dance Studio

The fully air conditioned, mirrored Dance Studio with sprung floor and surround sound system, provides a light and airy environment. Dimensions: 9.5m x 7.3m.

Drama Studio

A purpose built drama suite with sound system, stage lighting and tiered seating for an audience of up to 150.

Fitness Centre

Our range of equipment from Techno Gym focuses on the whole body including cardiovascular training directed by heart rate, Kinesis functional movement, core engaging apparatus and cutting edge flexibility concept machines. This spacious 30 station suite offers stunning views of the Malvern Hills and provides users with entertainment via plasma screens.

Swimming Pool

Located within the sports centre,the indoor heated pool measures 24 x 8 metres and is 1.2m at the shallow end and 3.5m at the deep end. A popular and convenient venue for swimming lessons, life guard training, sub aqua and recreational swimming.

Sports Hall

The Edinburgh Dome, so named as it was unveiled by the Duke of Edinburgh, consists of a round, green, balloon-shaped building, containing squash courts, a gym area and a large games area, all surrounded by a moat.

Sports Hall

The sports hall can be hired by sports clubs and individuals for regular or one-off booking. It includes markings for badminton, basketball, tennis, netball court and for Five-a-side football. A climbing wall is also available.

Astro Turf Pitches

The flood lit astroturf pitch is available for hire by clubs or individuals for one off or regular bookings.

With far reaching views from the balcony and a range of refreshments and snacks on offer, The fully licensed Juice Bar Café provides a perfect setting to relax after your sporting activity. It is also an ideal venue for small to medium functions of approximately 100.

The traditional ambiance of Lawnside, formerly the hotel lounge, lends itself to a range of uses including private meetings, dinners, drinks receptions, conferences and product launches for 60 to 150 guests with full screen projection facilities.

Large Hall

The Sports Hall seats approximately 750 and has an integral PA system. It can be carpeted and draped to accommodate a range of large scale events.

Function Room

Once the upper level of the dining room, the original architectural features of this room provide a wealth of character. Spacious yet intimate, with full screen projection facilities and a refreshment area, this room suits lectures, private meetings and conferences for up to 70 delegates.

Accommodation

The architecture of the six boarding houses at Malvern St James Girls’ School varies from Victorian through to modern contemporary. Each House is set in a quiet location adjacent to the main site and has its own garden and parking. The Houses offer excellent accommodation for up to 300 guests of which 125 rooms are single occupancy. Common rooms and recreation rooms are found in every House.

Hatfield House has a unique layout, with bedrooms arranged in self-contained ‘pods’ which makes it particularly suited to families, groups of children or any party requiring multi-bedded accommodation. Hatfield has a games room in addition to two large common rooms which both open directly into the garden. ‘The Hex’ in particular is a versatile social area with a piano and small staging. Accommodation for 54 in multi bedded rooms plus 4 single staff rooms.

Accommodation

Batsford House is ideal for smaller groups and groups of younger children. There is a ‘family home’ feel to this distinctive house which is set within a large garden. Batsford sleeps 27 in 4 multi-bedded dormitories plus 2 staff rooms, one single and one twin. Please note, there are bunk beds in this accommodation.

Poulton House is situated on the upper floors of the main building, bedrooms to the front and side enjoy far reaching views over the Malvern Hills whilst those at the rear overlook the Quad. It offers spacious accommodation for 72 with 38 single rooms plus 2 staff rooms.

The Mount is a homely, older style House with two spacious common rooms, one with piano, and a large games room. It accommodates 50 in single, twin and multi-bedded rooms plus 2 staff rooms.

A former 1930s rectory, The Benhams is located next to the main site, overlooking the School playing fields. This House accommodates 50, with 27 single rooms plus 2 staff rooms.
