Set in the heart of the medieval city of Wells, Wells Cathedral School’s beautiful backdrop has inspired generations of musicians throughout the ages. Wells is the smallest city in England and is surrounded by lovely countryside – quintessential England at its finest! Its world class performing arts venue Cedars Hall, opened in autumn 2016, was designed by leading London architect, Eric Parry, and offers an outstanding space for music, drama and corporate events alike. Added to this are the exceptional sports facilities which combined with the accommodation on offer, make it the ideal venue for residential as well day events.

Dance, Drama & Music

Music Hall

Eavis Hall, located within the world class performing arts venue Cedars Hall, is a flexible and modern performance space seating up to 350 people, with a variety of configurations possible through adaptation of seating and platforms. Designed to provide the very best acoustic experience, the flexibility of the technical specification means that this venue is accessible for performers of every discipline – for amplified music, dance, drama and lectures.

Music Room

Cedars Hall provides rehearsal, teaching and performance space including three teaching and practice spaces, each with adjoining unique observation facilities as well as the John Baxter Foyer, bar and state-of-the-art recording facilities.

Music School

Part of the music school buildings opposite the cathedral, Quilter Hall is a small, medieval, former concert hall. Quilter Hall tends to be used for smaller concerts such as masterclasses, early music and chamber music concerts.

Sports & Fitness

Sports Hall

The sports hall includes markings for indoor cricket, badminton, basketball, tennis, netball and football. A full equipped fitness suite is also available onsite. It available for hire by groups or individuals for regular practice sessions or one off bookings. *Actual facility may differ from image shown.

Sports Pitches

Five rugby pitches are available in the autumn term, after which time these are turned in to football pitches for the spring and summer terms. They are available for hire by groups and individuals, for one off tournaments or regular training sessions.

Cricket Pitches

A four wicket cricket square, three wicket cricket square and the stunning Cedars cricket square are all available for hire, along with three artificial cricket nets.

Astro Turf Pitches

The astroturf pitch at Wells is available for hire to play hockey in the autumn and winter terms and is converted in to nine tennis courts for the summer term.

Dance Studio

The light and airy dance studio at Wells is well suited to a variety of dance, yogo and exercise classes and can be hired on a one off or regular basis.

Swimming Pool

The five lane swimming pool at Wells is available for hire by groups and individuals for one-off or regular bookings.

Celebrations & Events

Pavilion

The upper level of the sports pavilion includes spectator seating with stunning views across Cedars Field and a meeting reception room and bar. The reception room can be used to provide lunch or light refreshments as well as space for social events and gatherings.

Entertaining Areas

The stunning Eavis Hall, located within Cedars Hall, can be transformed to be used for a wide variety of social events and functions from formal dinners and banquets to more informal drinks receptions and parties.

A range of beautiful medieval and 18th century boarding houses provide a warm, open friendly-style atmosphere. Each are set within their own garden and are adjacent to the main school campus. Rooms are all set up as twins or dormitory style.
